Roscommon Dry Stone Walling

Dry stone walling is one of the earliest skills known to mankind. In addition to walls it has been used to build shelters, fortifications & animal enclosures amongst other things.

Dry stone walling is durable because it contains no mortar to crack & fail, but is held together by the weight of the stone alone & the skill of the builder who selected & placed the stones. Over time, the structure settles & therefore becomes stronger & closer bound. It is not unusual to find dry stone walls that have been around for over one hundred years. Dry stone is, by its very nature, infinitely recyclable.

Nowadays, as well as constructing boundary walls, it is not unusual for garden ornaments to be made from dry stone, like stone seats or flower beds.

If you are planning any garden improvements / re-generation, then why not consider a dry stone construction(s), call Andy to discuss your requirements &/ or for a no obligation quotation.
